DCH++ in a non NT based Windows environment
I have noticed in reading that for right now DCH++ is a W2K / XP kind of thing. My machine runs ME and will for the forseeable future, but DCH++ sounds like my cup of tea. (I really need a better hub than NMDCH.) Are there plans to make it work with ME / 98?
well.. it looks like arne has used system/library calls that are not available on pre-NT boxes, and I seriously doubt he would make a 9x/me version. perhaps if/when the source is open someone would do it.readme.txt wrote:-- Requirements --
Win2k/XP (may run on NT4 with a fresh service pack as well...don't know).
or
Linux with libpthread.so.0, libdl.so.2, libstdc++.so.5, libm.so.6, libgcc_s.so.1, libc.so.6 and /lib/ld-linux.so.2
(I compile on Mandrake 9.1)
A network card with a correctly configured TCP/IP stack.
A computer that can run the above mentioned OS.
An administrator account (to install as service).
A brain (to read the readme and setup)
** Important!! The hub will _NOT_ run on Win9x/ME. **
in any case.. 9x/me are inferior operating systems, not built to run 24/7. you should consider upgrading your OS.. not only for DCH++

Perhaps Sandos you didn't get from my first post that I do run a hub on ME (using NMDCH). The hub in question is ffhub.no-ip.org. The program beats the snot out of my system resources but is otherwise okay. It's the system resources problem that has me seeking the DC++ solution.
An XP upgrade is out of the question for at least the short term. Thanks to all that answered.
