University firewalls/ Tunnelling tutorial
Okay, I have looked around extensively on this forum and elsewhere for a solution to get DC++ working through a uni firewall, and am not prepared to accept it cant be done as implied in FAQ, so............apart from hacking their router to allow some port numbers through, how can I use DC? I have heard of HTTP tunnelling but dont know the specifics, could someone let me know if this has worked for them?.........also what is SOCKS and is that viable to get around firewall? seems such a shame to waste an internet connection this fast, help me please people.......
This may or may not work:
http://www.http-tunnel.com/html/support ... sifing.asp
Socksify DCPlusPlus.exe using Permeo, there's a pictured guide at that link. (Permeo is not free to use, get your CC out)
http://www.http-tunnel.com/html/solutio ... lient2.asp
Install the SOCKS5 client
In DC++ Settings > SOCKS5 >
Socks IP = localhost or 127.0.0.1
Port = 1080
Please be aware that attempts to circumvent your universities computing services restrictions can possibly get you booted off campus or expelled.
