Checkbox by the sharefolders...

Post by granander » 2004-08-14 12:47

Here comes another stupid...

I cannot find out what the checkbox next to the shared folders does in the settings. I looked around and searched but just cannot find anything about them.

You mean share hidden files?
Keep it uncheck and hidden files wont be shared. That's what I recommend.

I'm pretty sure it means "enable," so you can quickly unshare/reshare things like porn that are banned in many hubs. Don't quote me on that, though.

That could be very useful in DC++. There are few hubs that doesn't allow me share certain files and everytime i remove and put them back, i have to rehash the whole stuff (and that takes hours). With those checkboxes, some stuff could be easily remove from share but it would be still hashed. Damn... i want this feature. :D

Well, I am sorry for bringing this to you since it wasn't even DC++ at all.

However, a better way to assign share would be that you can assign diffrent profiles to diffrent shares so as soon as you connect to a certain hub a share profile gets activated.

Wait, this is help and support. Perhaps I should tell this somewhere else. I really have to get my head on straigt

Thanks anyways!

Well, yes. But it won't do any more good than the last 50 people who suggested the same thing ;)

i remove large parts of my share sometimes to get into a hub with some rather "strange" rules, and i don't have to rehash anything when i re-add the stuff i removed. a refresh of filelist occurs, but no rehash unless files have been moved/renamed.

There is a feature like that in PhantomDC that lets you share and unshare folders without removing them, however I'm not sure that this is the same thing. The total amount shared below the shares is 103.7GB which certainly isn't the amount shared if the tickboxes enable/disable shares, i guess it could still be the same feature but they didn't use my code.

Maybe its mentioned in the fuldc readme?

I solved it by not using FulDC anymore :)
