Using rmDC++

Post by affin » 2004-06-10 23:47

I want to get into Active Mode but I can't figure out where to start with this DynIP program. Does anyone know how to work it or know of another program (preferably without a trial) that I can use that can input my IP so i can go active?

Thanks.

Active mode requires you to enter your IP address in settings. A lot of people are assigned a new IP address by their ISP every time they reboot their broadband modems, or every time they reconnect to a dialup service. In order to avoid updating DC++ settings every time your IP address changes, a custom domain name from www.dynip.org (edit: www.dyndns.org , der :roll: ) or www.no-ip.com coupled with an automatic IP update program can be used. Enter the dyndns address, say joey.no-ip.net instead of the actual IP address and let the dyndns updater do the work for you.

So, which part are you having trouble with?

forget dynIP for now, I was looking through other threads and for rmmDC client, but in that, whenever i click the Get IP button it puts in my local internal IP not external and then defaults it down to passive. What should I do?

Thanks.

What do you do? Download DC++.

You sure as hell are not going to get any support for a GPL violating client such as rmDC++ here. This is the DC++ forum.

Ok. In DC++, when I select active and put in what my current external IP is, I get connection timeouts on the downloads and nothing comes up on searches.

Thanks.

If you have a router or modem with a router built in, you'll need to configure that. If not, the IP from www.whatismyip.com will work.

I went into active and used the IP address from that website, and I get connection timeouts. But everything is setup fine.
