TTH Average Hashing speed
I've created a tool that finds the average TTH hashing speed on your computer, based off the values in the DC++ system log message file (system.log). This will only work if you're using a recent 0.402 CVS build! (BCDC 0.401b is the only one that comes to mind thats been precompiled) Place the program in your DC++ Log directory and run it.
Post back the following information:

Once I saw the new logging format, I kind of figured that.BSOD2600 wrote:No need to remove the existing log. All the program reads are the lines that contain the hashing speed, i.e. (8.57 MiB/s)
After hashing ~3GB of MP3s and ~2.5GB of AVIs under a typical system load, here is my information:
Intel Pentium III 866MHz
IC35L120 Hitachi 120GB 7200RPM IDE Ultra ATA 100 2MB Buffer (Isn't Google great? )
5.16349 MiB/s
I'll try on my laptop later on to see what kind of difference there is.
Something that I found interesting was that I had to actually close certain programs (such as SETI@Home) down. Not because the hashing was crippling my system but because the hashing wouldn't even start. I guess the IDLE priority is doing it's job. Though I totally expect people to still bitch about it.

Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.
I would sincerely recommend people to do two things that least, for me, made a huge difference in the hashing matter.
1. See to it that you are in the fastest possible mode accessing your discs, UDMA 5 or 6 recommeded. Latest drivers, latest everything. In other words...Update drivers to latest possible. Check that cabling allows for at least UDMA 5
2. Constantly Defrag your disk/disks. This makes a big, big difference to overall access speed.
