hmm i can't understand what this option has to do with being backwords compatibel.[sic] Because it has to do with the protocol, Wisp. The $Search command is only set up in such a way that "less than" or "more than" searches are expected. Well let's say I'm searching for a file of 1000 bytes first D...

I think that the DC interface would be much cleaner when there would be used some tabs, like the hub windows (public/favorites) could be merged to one and divided into 2 tabs the search window could make a new tab for every search query and so on wouldn't this be better? i'm sometimes drowning in th...

When you search for a file, you can select "at least" and "at most" but can't there be an option "Exact" so i can better search for alternatives? This would put an enormous strain on the hub. This type of frequent searching for a hub with 1000 people would be an additional 66 searches per minute than normal. That is why the current method only searches for files that have "no users online". Ok make it 30 minutes or so, it was just an example...

There seem to be some problems with the current way of automatically searching for alternatives (also see this topic) So i thought out a better way to search for alternatives This is how it should work 1. Encryption to protect files and users
The last time there are a lot of newsitems regardig organisations like RIAA who are hunting down P2P users and suing them. Probably there will be a time when they start with DC++, and since it's easy to grab someone's filelist, DC++ will be an easy victim. So i was thinking of a way to make people m...

Isn't it a good idea to make catagories in the favorite hub window, similar to the FlashFXP site manager http://www.flashfxp.com/images/scr/f-site1x1.png In that way, you could also make it possible to connect to multiple hubs the same time, by clicking on an item with subitems (like in the screensh...

one of the best features of directconnect is specialized hubs. however, hubs that specialize both on the content (eg style of music) and the form (eg bitrate and encoding) of files will likely end up with a very small pool of users to draw on because of this double specialization.
