The same concept behind setting up DC++ in active mode aplies to setting up a hub. That's why he gave you that link. Forward one port through ICS (411 by default) for the hub to run on.

Settings > Sharing > Open an extra slot if speed is below X is a better solution.

Kill uploads if below X speed should never be built into DC++, IMO.

To change file associations, open Windows Explorer, go to Tools > Folder Options > File Types. Locate JPG, JPEG and GIF (among other image types) and change the program association to Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. Next, download Spybot search and destroy to try to clean out whatever has hijacked IE.

The one-slot-per-user restriction is built into DC++ (and pretty much all the alternatives, AFAIK). So unfortunately, a script will not be of any help.

You need to install the Neo-Modus DC client version 1.009 in order to run Direct Connect Hub software v1.0. Good luck in finding that though, since it's no longer on the Neo-Modus download page :?

Basically, after a downloader asks for a connection, the uploader replies with "No Slots available" before the downloader specifies which file it wants. The transaction between the two is then over. To change this behaviour would add bloat, and I personally don't think it's worth it. I'm pretty sure...

You will lose any installed software, yea. But you can back up your Word documents or pictures and things like that. But avoid backing up anything that is executable.

filenames with illegal characters such as $ are removed from the share list in DC++. Did you happen to catch which client he was using?
