Isn't "Note; most of these options require that you restart DC++" enough? The label is in the only places (as far as I know) where you can change settings and need to restart DC++. I was thiking of the connection settings when I wrote this, because it's not obvious for others as it is for you... :r...

DC++ restart notification

Whenever a user changes some setting that needs restart, DC++ should display a warning. (Like: You have changed settings which apply only on restart. Restart the client now?)

Fill in the external IP (preferably a no-ip DNS), make the portforward and it must work. The external IP/DNS is not a choice, it's a must. :)

But you have to fill in the external IP, or use a no-ip.com DNS along with the DUC which always gets resolved by the client on startup.

Default ports

Little, but I saw that fallback to passive on UPnP failure is removed, and thought of the idea that DC++ should come with pre-specified ports thus it could make some people's lives easier. For instance, I manage a firewall and it has a default deny for inbound, then I allow them for some ports. Now ...

I have also experienced this, the possible reason is that the user shared his file with encryption. If you can, try to remove the encryption by using Properties from the file's rightclick menu..

btw the best thing to understand protocol is to run a small private hub on ptokax with CMDs enabled and keep reconnecting :)

also, the DC protocol manual is very nice, have learnt a lot of them.

btw better use a well-known tag for your client ;)
