oh, yes of course Ryan ;) I was just simply reffering to the fact that it's not a requirement for a protocol. X25 (?routing/routed? i can't remember, heh) i think is an example of a protocol that has little or no error correction, thus rendering it useless in thge current day and age, in the shadow ...

did you see what i just said? The whole point in multiple lists is to split the bandwidth load between hosts! If every DC++ client is modified to dld every list, just think how much bigger the bandwidth loads on the lists would then be! ..the eventual outcome would be that most of them would shut do...

yes, good call. also, here is a list of useful checks that i made a while back: Things to look out for in Lock/PK string variations: - Client with DC++ tag, and random lock & pk strings - Client w/ DC++ tag, and other non-dc++ lock & pk strings. e.g. too many "ABC"'s in pk. - Cleint w/ DC++ tag, sho...

If you have multiple lists in your config, 'd like to be able to skip through them of my own accord, not only if one list isn't working.. since, some may be working, but are just crap.. heh.

Yeah, you're almost correct Ryan. Isn't it the Transport layer that's responsible for error correction (layer 4)? ..and not lal protocols have error correction. COLYPTiC - Obviously, you have failed to realse that eny transfer protocol used here, will have error correction.. it would be insane not to!

Interesting thread! Yeah, i think encryption would be useful on some parts of dc... the protocol especially. Another thing would be to encrypt an individual clients dc++ favourites list! There are reports of people hacking OP's box's, and stealing their OP passwords to reak havok on their hub.. Coul...

well, we have nick..etc etc, how about IP? it'd make banning through a standard dc++ client a heck of a lot easier

you have to take into account the fact that 3 slots open for someone on a 128 upstream connection, is kinda the limit... otherwise speeds can go sub-zero, heh. So if i alread yhave 3 slots open, and then want to download from maybe 5 people, do to faster download speeds.. with your theory i'd have t...

Search for alternate sources on download?
this would be kewl:
The ability to immediately search for alternate download sources when you press the download button (looks in the current search result and adds all the files with exactly the same size, so you don't have to explicitly search for alternates)
