I think this could be implemented but only as a "check" for ops to see if a user is faking, that way it wouldn't cost so much bandwidth..

most of the things you talk about are caused by bots, if you enable the setting "ignore messages from user that are not online" most of the things will be ignored

What's wrong with that? Users are warned about duplicates. Sharing installed programs are discouraged. There's a difference between sharing an installed program and a setup directory :) It's a user configuration issue - keeping duplicates out of the file list by default is a perfectly sane option. ...

That's a logical extension. It'd be neater if DC++ refused to queue duplicate files.

I have a few windows-setups in my share, and some of the files from different setup dirs (2000/xp/2003) have duplicates, so dc++ made the xp and 2003 version incomplete by removing the dupes

I think virtual folders would be a great feature, a lot of ftp clients already have it

i have labeled a lot of maps in dutch, when i share it, people don't reconise it

i have also a lot of folders spread over multiple drives, which could be merged to one folder

i would like a way to enter a description of the filelist or a map/file, so that when a user downloads a filelist, there is a textbox or whatever with a description, in that way you could explain things about the shared files (like "the files in dir xyz are tv shows that i recorded two months ago", ...

people dont always look at the directory a search result is in. in that case it's their own fault when they download a bad file (maybe dc++ could add a small red/yellow !-sign in the future?) and besides that, how big is the chance that you download a bad file on dc++? Most people are not newbies, ...

In my case, I do share my downloads dir, but the dirname is "downloads" so everyone knows they are not validated. When a new album or movie is out, everyone is downloading it from eachother at the same time, so when everybody is also sharing the files he just downloaded, the spreading goes a lot fas...

a google like search is very high on my list of favorite features.. I don't know how difficult it is to program, but it should be a big improvement.
I often have the same problem when i search for a movie which has a short name, i get hundreds of other titles which also contain the search string..

I didn't even notice that dc++ was hasing, later i found out there were hash ID's in my share..
I think a lot of people have configged their windows or hardware bad

I.. haven't seen this behavior. Matching on exact filename and size is the only function of Match Queue.
