I like PM'ing myself (don't take that the wrong way). Both through usercommanda and regulary. PM'ing myself notes and the like, as well as PM'ing myself a TTH or filename i found in the search. It's nice.. and i wouldn't want to loose it. I see absolutely no need for such a "feature".

Chimera is a bot written in VB.NET (source released under GPL), that can login to a hub and has a working socket stream handler. Perhaps it can give you some help.

Note: the "spider" you describe already exists, and is used by just about every hublist out there.. it's usually called a "Pinger".

Specify. Does it take a long time for the users to download from each other? That has nothing to do with the hub. Does the initial handshake take a long time? That might have to do with the hub, but it's impossible to know since you havn't even specified what hubsoft you're using.

Sure. Problem is the filename isn't known, and you can't learn it unless you send a search of your own on the TTH. To make every DC++ send autosearches as soon as someone else searches by TTH would be insane.

Why would this be a great improvement? Pingtimes really have no relations to what kind of transfer speeds you will be able to get from the user, if that's what you're after. It's pretty useless outside of checking if the user is online, which he ought to be if he's in the hub.
