A practical problem that will pop up is that dc++ can only use filenames and filesize to determine matches, so you could very well end up downloadinf loads of stuff you already have only with a different filename, encoding or bitrate to name a few... vonork : You haven't responded to this point yet...

Also, you do realise that you don't need to carry on the download from the *exact* same person, right?

I suggest you investigate the "Search for alternates" feature. That way you won't (generally) have to chase anyone.

I think at the moment it's the default system beep. So if you can't hear it, that's the thing to change.

DC++ doesn't send DNS addresses. It converts the address to an IP address before sending it to a hub.

Get a dynamic DNS address. DC++ will accept such an address in the active mode settings.

In the old versions of dc++ download que there was a nice future.. Which version are you talking about? It was that U could see the amount in megs downloaded of the file in que. That's all the standard stuff out of the way as far as I can remember. So ...

Can you check whether this is the IP address that your computer recognises. At a command line type ipconfig and note if there are any different IP addresses.

You have a DNS address "superiornetwork.no-ip.info". This maps to an IP address. Your DNS address is a dynamic DNS address because you have a dynamic IP address, e.g. it changes each time you connect to the internet.
