I don't see the benefit of the RELAY STATION approach over an improved MULTI-HUB LINKING using Redirection to balance the load. I do see increased Security concerns in having the hub ask users if they want to be relay stations and after they accept other clients connect to them as a trusted source.....

Questions... Will the Hub have full support for DNS names as well as IP's? Can you fix the issue with mismatched IP's for people running an ACTIVE client and a hub behind a router? (Hub sees connection from LAN IP but search request says INTERNET IP therefore search request not sent to other clients...

The linux HUB, which we are running now supports this thing, the problem is: each HUB runs well with 600-900 users, but in linked mode each can hold just a few hundred, above that they get out of sync in just a few minutes, and then, every user is disconnected, we had to restart both HUBs. What ver...

It depends what scripts you are running. I have one which reads $MyInfo strings and in order to bypass it I changed the Connection Type for the Web Clients to "WEB" and then bypass those users in my script. This also allowed me to change their share to 0 so they don't look like fakers and they don't...

I've read through this because some sort of "Who's trying to download from me" queue inside the client would be great. but, as has been stated it must be compatible with all clients out there. Johner, DC++ can do what you want to resume a partial file and it's a lot easier then the process you described.... First you have a partial download, say 80% of the file: "The Movie Part 1 of 2.mpg" and now the user has gone AWOL, so you do a search for the "Movie" and find: "The Movie pt1.mpg" "Mo...

If you take ButterflySoul's suggestions just remember, once you've eliminated known client's (NMDC, DC++, oDC) what's left isn't necessarily faker/cheaters, it's unknown clients. They might be faker/cheaters but don't assume they are in your script or you'll wind up with users who think your script ...

Re: GetFileList bypasses download-que
There is the possibility of canceling the transfer of "movie.avi" then using "Force connection attempt" - if its done fast enough then you should be able to get a new slot before anyone else grabs it, and since your filelist has a higher priority to download than "movie.avi" DC++ should request it ...

Exactly. Some hubs are concerned about incomplete game/movie/app/mp3 but most are more concerned with incomplete files. If each user that completes a file becomes another alternate source for that file things can move around quicker, add multi-segmented downloads to that and bingo! transfer speeds f...

Refreshing filelist for completed downloads
There have been a few discussions about auto refreshing the filelist and the challenges associated with that but this one should be EASY.
If I download a file and it completes, that file should be added to my filelist if it was downloaded to a location which is also SHARED.
Simple, right???
