i have to agree with GargolyeMT, this should not be implimented and this is not a issue. DC++ informs the hub it enters with the dc++-tag, then the administrators of the hub can choose what todo.

i do not understand what you say actually, or atleast i can't make it happen in my client. Search, then click on "Download" and you will never download his filelist.

well, select doesn't work on all OSs also.. specialy not on certain filedescriptors... but then this might not be an issue beacuse we mostly will listen to sockets ;))

yes, i miss to be able to write one-linears and send it to people who are new in the *nix world.... doesn't irc use \001 or \002 or something for escaping? don't remember right now. Well that would probably not work in dc beacuse most clients would print those []-boxes for none-printable chars.

i would go for a select-approach... i have always liked select, and yes as sandos express there is a problem with select with regard to number of sockets, but it can surley be solved fairly easy with some queueing, timeout and other things (will not go into details).. programming-is-like-maintaining...

Could some version authentication be implemented to help combat the Un-Official versions that keep popping up, i know this almost certainly require another extension to the protocol but it would be nice :) Short answer; No. Longer answer; Maybee, but probably not worth the effort... we-have-to-live...
