No it can't... The protocol is written in that way. I know that Nev proposed to send $Kick to the client getting kicked, and this will atleast find its way into ASH and hopefully DC++ (as a client).... There is a hackish workaround already present in DC++. If first "message" from the hub contain "ba...

Change the order between $MyINFO and $GetNickList
I think we should consider changing the order of two commands in the hub-client handshake. Today it is; $Version $GetNickList $MyINFO Into; $Version $MyINFO $GetNickList This is more logical... one problem, some hubs might expect this order. I know that ptokax-hub might get confused. But i guess tha...

$SR to people searching for "folders"
So, here we go again.. As i was supposed to investigate the $Search and $SR as i'm a big fan of improving these i compiled a small dc++ which showed me which $SR i sent back passivly to hubs, and i found something funny. When someone searches for a type 8 (i.e. folders), my dc++ replied with some st...

Well, DC++ sends multiple MyINFO in other situation aswell which has nothing todo with the H-tag. Try to add a directory or remove a directory in your share and you will se. This is probably due to the fact that clicking OK in setting aswell as ShareManager::run will do an update. Well, diff -u will...

Regarding QuickSearch variant of the Boyer-Moore.
I have finaly started to test the cvs-implimentation. Facts: A FileList consisting of 58425 files (mp3, jpeg, .nfo and .sfv). Compared 0.242 with the CVS implimentation using the same filelist. I faked 10 Passive searchs / second to the client using a bouncer with random nickname, random size, rando...

i can quote what knoton usually answers to this question; Knoton; No, I have not updated the script to handle the new description. I will most likely not update it anymore, I am so tired of scripting for the NMDCHub. I am currently trying to make an alternative hub instead that will allow people to ...

In many new hubsoftwares, MyINFO is an essential part of the handshaking between client and hub. You will not be allowed to grab the NickList before the handshake is done. Sending a nicklist with 1500 users time 10 chars each to users that are not even welcome to the hub due to to low sharelimit or ...

well this would certainly help, or you code in a fixed lists of hublist-urls. And have people choosing from that one directly in the client. But then that would be restriction... hmm.. but you raise an important point. Would be alot easier if they could choose a hublist, and not have to look for a u...

All hubs that i have helped in the devolpment have ip-checks on ConnectToMe and Search (ASH, and a new hub knoton is working on). I personly dislike the dynamic hostnames in the address field. This is due to the fact that tunneling happens more and more. I will check how often people use hostnames i...

yes and no, the original protocol and client was devolped with one client, one hub in mind. And how the protocol is written now, its impossible to know from which hub an "incomming" connection is from. Ofcourse you could try to hack this by adding different ports for different hubs.. i will not go i...

"log exactly" what is sent back and forth: and you should also read up on $QuickList, http://forum.dcstats.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=802
You can read the history about quicklist in different threads on that cite.

Re: Version Authentication
Could some version authentication be implemented to help combat the Un-Official versions that keep popping up, i know this almost certainly require another extension to the protocol but it would be nice :) Short answer; No. Longer answer; Maybee, but probably not worth the effort... we-have-to-live...
