also, adding an entry to the "hosts" file, in the puter you want to use to access your server, might do the trick. like: 192,168.0.3 youraddy.no-ip.com Feels like that is to much work for just a weekend, but I've found a simplier way (perhaps not the best one). I just make a program that adds an en...

Do you think a 200-300 mhz p2 can handle both that and a hub? a pentium 90 should be enough for the software router, with 2 or 3 nic. the third is for DMZ(only if soft support more then 2 nic and DMZ is needed). for the hub that depend on how many users are in the hub, best if not on same puter as ...

if i understand you correctly. in this kind of setup is that you're all in the same LAN as all the other users of that ISP.(same IP class) you won't be able to make a DNS server work to resolve outside DNS, unless the DNS server have a routable IP. since i don't know what hardware the ISP is using, ...

if you have a router on your LAN, it might also have DNS resolution in it DHCP server.(not for inside DNS resolution, but outside). if DHCP allocate an IP to a puter, chance that the router will be also be able to resolve your no-ip addy are high. if you have no router, you might try to setup a soft...

note that in win98, the DOS box does not close by default. you will need to create a .pif for the batch file. to do so easely, while the DOS box is open, clic on the properties button. notch "close on exit". if not done you could end up with a lots of DOS box open, if using with the scheduler.

The principle however is the same: going first is not always best, because those that follow can get the benefit of everything you did plus their own ideas, which you didn't get to see. DC++ improved upon DC, otherwise people would have used DC. And that's the truth. and what prevent you as the ori...

on college network, probablility that people from outside will not be able to connect to your server are very high. chance are that you have a non routable IP. internet users can't have direct access to a non routable IP. that is why forwarding a port is needed, since you can't change the setting of...
