Since MSG never requires a valid response from the receiving client. I would consider it as part of BASE that you don't have to implement if you don't want to. All you have todo is to silently drop the message and not send back a STA.

No, basicly, the uploading client waits for a timeout on the socket. I.e., lets the downloading client send something new, like initiating a a new $Get within a minute or whatever time-period you find satisfactory.

If nothing happens, then you disconnect.

To create a compatible client:

1) Turn off TTH-tree downloads.
2) Turn off TTH-validations.

All and all this should be less than 10 lines of code to change in the codebase.
Also make sure you have turned off CRC32 checksums and ADLER32 checksums.
