This should be put in the hub list registration process... knowing the rules, having the hub web-links could come handy in the clients too... :) There is a Hungarian DC Hub and Client (X-Hub, X-DC) those support this, when user together. If you open up 2 slots, connect to one hub, and then later yo...

This one looks good. (As everything here :)) My 2cents: Sometime later, but before ADC spec 1.0 you should add an exact specification for files.xml's structure (or client will name filenames like filename, Fname, NAME, johndoe, etc...:). There could be support for two versions of the filelist: files...

I've checked the page of SQLLite, it seems interesting. My concern - I didn't find any units for it in Delphi/Kylix. Is someone aware of one, or will I have to write one for myself, if I decide to support it?

For now, it will require MySQL - it depends quite heavily on the info stored in there, and makes excessive use of information stored between two excecutions. I know, I could write some simple thing for myself, but I don't like reinventing the wheel, especially when the guys at MySQL AB did their job...

New day - new release. Some steps made towards linux, and it's finally translated to English. Feel free to test version 0.252. -- 0.252 2004-01-09 -- * Switched over from MySQLlib to MySQLDirect * Made user of language files -> you can now translate the beast, without touching the source * Changed t...

Yes I know. I'm working on it right now, 0.252 should be out soon. The guys at sf approved the project faster than I thought they will. Right now, I'm working on internationalization - the BOT will read every message from a language file. Hungarian and English language files will be distributed with...

Hub-sent Usercommands have one backdraw: they are sent out to everyone (or at best, you can choose to send out the to users in a specific profile). And you know, people are different :D I'd like to have many usercommands - and do many things with one click, other Ops are getting confused by the high...

User Commands Enhancement - Associate with more than one HUB

The idea is simple: We have user commands, and user commands can be associated with hub ip / dns address. It would be great, if that association field could contain more than one hub ip/dns separated by comas. There are a lot of useful hub command, especially OP commands, but HUB SW and BOT creators...

Hmmm, it doesn't seem too odd for me. I could also think of some good uses to it. And also a simple and effective solution came to my mind: IF some shared folder is called "[Private Shares]" it should be private. In those folder you could create folders, named after particular users. On downloading,...

MHS

Well, good news everybody. The new PtokaX (Testdrive v3) has got some multihub features. It's not enabled yet. They have told, it will work in the next stable release.

AFAIK it will be a Master/Slave solution, and won't require any client side changes.

I'm getting a bit confused now... Are we talking about HUB linking or using clients as relays? Or are we talking about 3 different things? 1.: clients as relays - seems to be disliked 2.: using RelayStations - one MasterHUB and some Slave-HUBs a.: with client side changes to optimize the network loa...

Back in Business :) I'm happy to read many new and good ideas. I really like the master/slave HUB concept. That one could solve the bandwidth problems without any client side changes. And it would give a good solution to sync problems too. It's extra bandwidth requirements over a Hub-relay network s...

User commands are really great, one little thought:
I can't get them working with PM's. If I write the bot's nick to the PM to field, two things can happen here:
1.: nothing
2.: DC++ quits.

Any ideas?

Hi, back again:) We've been playing around with the newest linux HUB, and it works somehow. We can stay online for almost 24 hours :) with over 1000 people. There are some stability problems, but it seem to work a bit now:). I've checked out the PtokaX dev. forum too, there was already a thread abou...

Well, our synch problems came when we tried to connect two HUBs. This setup wasn't a HUB - RelayServer - Client setup, but simply two HUBs, connected with eachother. It's been mentioned here before, that is possible, so I wrote, what problems we had with it... By the way, I never told that I want to...

Out experience has shown, that it's far from easy to synchronize two big HUBs with eachother. The first and smaller problem is, that both hubs have to be in the same "initial state" - HUB SW version, config, scripts, op logins/passwords. After that, each HUB has to make decissions - with it's own sc...

Security

My ideas to security issues: 1. (The easier one...:): Hubs shouldn't let users/clients be relays, Hub owners should setup relay servers and let some users connect to them. This is easy because: it won't bring up new threats, the trusted one is the Hub in the communication. The clients don't have to ...

I've been there when we were speaking about the ratings system, on a different nick though (I didn't have time for a while to log in, and now, I forgot my password + mail address, which I used:). Well, de simplier one first :) HaArD: we not only want to connect the chat, but tu expand the maximum user limit on the HUB. DDCP details

Well, some details about how I imagined the whole thing. I will describe the situation where some clients are relaying HUB traffic. So, upon connecting to the HUB client A should notify the HUB, that it is able to relay HUB traffic, sending connection details, indicating max. number of connections a...

Distributed DC network

Hi all! I don't know wheter it was discussed earlier or not, but I didn't find anything on this forum about this topic. client identification

Hi! As far as I know, DC++ knows wich users it is trying to download from. When someone sends a MyNick, then it searches this array, and if the user is found, he is a download source. Otherwise he will try to upload something. Besides, every transferee should be known. Either you send a $ConnectToMe...
