Re: Autosearching by TTH only in .403

I supposed so but the issue is still there considering how much the hashes vary today. They don't vary, there are a lot of corrupted versions, each with their own TTH. This is one of the benefits of hashing, to see the corruption inherent in the system. Of course they are corrupted versions. But as...

Re: Autosearching by TTH only in .403

on most of the hubs I'm on many files does not have hashes at all In this case, DC++ will use the older method of matching by file name and size. Any hashes encountered will be ignored (as far as I can remember). I supposed so but the issue is still there considering how much the hashes vary today.

Autosearching by TTH only in .403

Don't you think that there should be an option to ignore the hashes when autosearching? (I'm, not sure how it's done in .401) Among people's shares on most of the hubs I'm on many files does not have hashes at all and, most of all, even if they have, the number of different hashes for the "same" fil...

What Gasp says is true (although it doesn't really have anything to do with the connection being asynchronous...), but I'd like to note that BCDC++ has this as part of the limiting feature. Oh, sorry, I obviously didn't make myself clear. What I meant was of course that in DC networks there is much...

It's a misconception. You wouldn't save any bandwidth in this way, because fewer users downloading from you would have greater download speeds as most of the connection are asynchronous and the overall use would remain the same. The only solution is to use a client supporting bandwidth limiting.

Sorry, I apparently didn't look hard enough. But as someone there noticed NOTing the results - unlikely other operators - can be done solely at the side of the client that sends the search request. ADC protocol draft already supports it, although obviously both NOTing and ANDing are done by the rece...

Yeah, the first feature is something I've wanted for some time. I've always wished there was a possibility to enhance the search option besides a basic string search. Exclude some strings, look for whole phrases etc - just like in most of web search engines: U2 -spy -airplane "Still haven't found wh...
