you're making wrong assumptions and asking the wrong questions. i am, indeed... but hey I got a right answer :D Like Guitarm said, thanks for the clarification! I'll check his version, I'm almost sure he's using some version of oDC. Cheers! On a side note, I am amazed as always by how fast those re...

About small files (<= 64 Kb)

... or it might be KiB, I'm not sure :P I've searched but couldn't find a post on this subject, so here goes: connections are getting faster, hard drives are getting bigger, I assume most of us (leechers can stop reading now) tend to share more and more as we get bigger hard drives. I currently shar...

Hi, The problem could be in the scripts running on the Ptokax. There are download-blocking scripts around (eg. to prevent unregged users from downloading), one of them might be running on your hub with the wrong config, blocking everyone. I don't see how it could be a dc++ issue, as I assume your us...

Settings > Advanced > Open new PM window in the background.

That said, a kind of /ignore function might come in handy from time to time... although I personally never felt the need for it.

Why all this yak-yakin' about the .dctmp? How about you learn a little patience and wait until a file is downloaded before playing it? In my experience, there is almost always something to do while dc++ is downloading... 8) And with the big HDs and broadband we get now, it's a breeze to download fil...

I'm getting sick of quote-combat, of taking each sentence separately and of arguing for the sake of arguing. Looking at the rest of cologic's posts, he will keep on arguing and taking each sentence separately without reading the whole meaning and putting down his "opponents" with <dumbness snipped> ...

They must protect their own interests, as you yours. Yes, that I understood. You didn't answer me: what is DC about, if you take the sharing part out of it? I wouldn't mind working in their interest, if their interest was to share. Expecting others to uphold your interests merely leads to a less ro...

Ok... let's use an example here, and see if that helps. Yup, I dig your example Todi, but I had understood that already. I could probably sum up my position by saying: Knowing that nothing can be perfect, one can still aim for perfection. Some fakers might find it too bothersome to continue faking,...

I don't really care about the opinions of people who don't want to share I don't really care about the opinions of people who don't want me in their hubs. (Alternatively, this is pointlessly unproductive rhetoric.) Aw come one now, what is DC all about, if not sharing? And what is the point of comi...

I think cologic was talking more about why the client would want to provide hub owners with a way to ban it if it was against his self-interest. Regular, good users would probably want that. But you wouldn't want to ban them anyway... someone you want to keep out would probably not want to give you...

Very interesting topic... As a hubowner and hub-user, I would definitely support a way of making permbans effective. The question of the "client's self interest" is tricky... For me, a hub should be a community of like-minded people who join together to exchange files and chat, within the boundaries...
